Dion Markx and Tim Geypens have officially shaken hands with PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, marking the beginning of their naturalization process and their excitement to start their journey with the Indonesia National Team.
This moment signals the formal start of their naturalization, with both Markx and Geypens expected to bolster the Indonesia U-20 National Team ahead of the 2025 U-20 Asia Cup.
The tournament will take place from February 6 to February 23, 2025, in China.
Markx expressed his joy in undergoing the naturalization process to become an Indonesian citizen. The Palembang-born player felt warmly welcomed by the people of Indonesia.
"Thank you to everyone for the warm welcome during my first visit to Indonesia," Markx wrote on his Instagram (@dion.markx) on Saturday (November 16, 2024). "I'm very happy and proud to be here," he added.
In the coming months, Markx and Geypens will undergo several steps in the process, including government approval, an oath-taking ceremony, and a federation transfer. The process is expected to be completed quickly so that both players can officially become Indonesian citizens.
Markx, who plays for NEC Nijmegen U-21, is eager to begin the journey with the U-20 National Team.
"I can't wait to start this adventure. See you soon!" he concluded.
